| Enjoying the primative escape of art, the feel of dusty charcoal grinding itself to something the eye integrates into recognizable form. The connection, much like a cave painting capturing a hunting experience or magical moment, that sways the very human nature of converting thought to medium. I draw what is beautiful, and nothing is more beautiful than female forms. To capture that feminine transient beauty of youth that western culture has idealized, nurtured and rewarded at all levels of society, that transient beauty which holds the attention of both man and woman in all mediums. We are fortunate to be in an age where beauty can be recorded and conveyed around the world to inspire imagination and art that for thousands of years was otherwise rare and isolated. Indulge! yea, ive only known a few people that ever really listened to her music, but even then, they werent familiar with hardly any of it. they just knew warhead and buried alive.

Otep's new CD doesn't have that power and volatility that her earlier work did, and I think it is because she is happier and has sorted out some internal struggles. Jihad and House of Secrets can stand as individual works of art, and her spoken word poem 'Germ' is at least to me a masterpiece. Her early stuff certainly pulled from the dark aspects of her life and psychology, however, she may get radio play and more exposure with the new album, which will lead new fans to her older stuff too. I have her poetry books and they are remarkable! I'm glad you went deeper in her work, it is nice to know more than just metalheads like her.
